April Update: Still Going Strong

Hello from Boldly Stripped HQ!

Since the last update in February, we’ve shot the Vorta, the Klingon, and the Borg, and I just can’t stress enough how happy I am with our results. We had some loooong 12-hour days, but it's all worth it to make these crazy photos!

We ran into some technical problems with the Orion and part of the Android photos, so we did re-shoots, and those look amazing as well.

I’ve been working on both versions of the book layout (nude and lingerie), and I’m excited to say we will be delivering 84 pages featuring OVER 400 hot and nerdy photos in every book! I have completed layouts for all of the pages except for the very last photoshoot which we still have left.

So what’s left to do? We still need to shoot the Cardassian, featuring a kanar bottle, a disruptor, and a lot of custom prosthetics⁠—though we still can’t show you the Cardassian neck trick! We will also be editing photos, finalizing text and adding some captions to the photo layout thanks to our professional comic book letterer, Cory Petit.

February Update: Lots of Progress - Plus a New Reward

Hi Crew,

Hazel here, with some updates! Things are going well over here at Boldly Stripped HQ. I'll get this out of the way first: I regret to say we need to push the delivery date again. It's tough to estimate exactly how much time we'll need to have the books printed and shipped, but I CAN guarantee we will have all of the photos shot by the end of March, with nearly all of the layout and editing work done as well. I've already laid out the first half of both versions of the book, and I am so proud of our results so far!

So what's been happening since the last update? I went to visit Dangrrr in LA and we shot some Android and Trill magic. Stella Chuu did an incredible job on the Borg costume -- prosthetics to go along with the costume are in progress! We've got a Vorta costume I'm very exited about, and some delightful custom-made ears to go along with it. The Klingon warrior is really coming to life, with help from some thrifted leather and fur, and some great 3D print-makers from Etsy (and Stella!). AND we have pins and sticker sheets!!!

Exciting Arrivals and a NEW Reward!

We now have our Tribble Sticker Sheets and Andorian Pin-Up Pins along with a special surprise, the Aenar variant of the Andorian pin! I couldn't be happier with the quality of these adorable rewards!

The Book Comes to Life

Photos are still being edited and shuffled around, but we've got half of both the nude and lingerie versions laid out so far. Book layout was something I used to do at my first job and it's a real joy to get to do it again! Every photoshoot is getting four or six pages, and we're throwing in a few double-page spreads as well. I'll be crediting my sources for many of the patterns, Etsy makers, and other resources that are helping me bring these shoots to life!

I'd also like to send a shout out to the Millenium Fandom Bar in Las Vegas, where we shot the Bolian photos above! They were great to work with, and I HIGHLY recommend you grab a drink and check out all the amazing nerdiness there next time you visit Vegas!

What's in the Studio?

We shot the Android in LA at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, without having any idea they had just recently shot some scenes for Star Trek: Picard season two there. Looks like we have the same taste!

This Trill initiate is a bit of a daydreamer. Will she achieve her dream of being joined??

We've got some fun things planned for the Vorta, who serve the Founders in all things. Just look at those  custom-made ears!

Just look at the amazing job Stella Chuu did on these Borg parts. To this, we'll be adding some custom prosthetics, and the bald cap and body paint will be super fun!

Buy' Ngop!

Gosh I love sewing with leather. I searched out some old leather coats and a fur vest for my Klingon look, and have been hard at work on these fun pieces. With some help from some Etsy sellers and from Stella Chuu, I've also got my disruptor and all the bits and pieces to round out this warrior's uniform. I can guarantee you'll see me in this one at the Vegas con in August!

I still have several steps to go on my bat'leth and d'k tahg, but I'm very excited about them!

Greetings Crew!

Hazel here with a long-awaited update on our progress over here at Boldly Stripped. It’s been a busy season in our personal lives, but so many things are happening! We have completed shoots for the Bajoran, Risan, Bolian, Dabo Girl, and Vulcan, and will be shooting the Android and Trill next week in LA. I have also sent the base costume for the Borg to Stella Chuu, and she is beginning to work her cosplay magic. Next up in the sewing room: Klingon warrior!

Temporal Anomalies

If I could go back to 2020 and fill all of my unemployed Pandemic months with this project, I would. But since nobody wants a visit from Temporal Investigations, I’ve got to work with what I’ve got! At this time we are revising our estimated delivery from January to March 2022. We’d much rather take the time to put out the best product, instead of rushing through and sacrificing quality. Have no fear that we will deliver though, thanks to all of your generous pledges!

The Creative Process

A guiding principle in creating my Boldly Stripped aliens has been to make some of my own interpretations of the costuming of each culture. I didn’t want to purely copy fashions from the shows (except for uniforms of course), so part of my process has been designing and creating unique patterns for every look. I hope you’ll love these creations as much as I do! I’ll be posting a lot of progress shots on the Boldly Stripped Instagram in the next week and as I continue to create more!

August Update from Boldly Stripped

Greetings crew,

It's been a busy summer and I realize I haven't shared any updates yet, so I wanted to make sure you know we're still hard at work at Boldly Stripped! In about a week we'll be shooting two more of our alien looks, we have scheduled dates for the remaining shoots, and are on track to deliver your books well within the promised time frame. In the coming weeks we will also have an update for our live launch event, for any backers in or near Vegas!

Costumes

I've been hard at work in my studio on several of the next costumes to be shot, including Bajoran, Dabo girl, Risan, Bolian and Android. I also had the pleasure of wearing my new TNG uniform and Bajoran uniform to the 55-Year Mission Tour convention this week in Las Vegas!

Props

The best photos require the right props. We're working with 3D printing, all kinds of materials, and also sourcing from some fantastic vendors who are just as dedicated to the details as we are! I even scored a real Cardassian Kanar bottle from the excellent people at Star Trek Wines, who had the original remaining bottles scanned and recreated in perfect detail!

Prosthetics

Custom prosthetics require a life cast for the artist to work on, so I dove right in and got covered in goop. I'm looking forward to sharing what our artist Ashley is creating for us!

The Continuing Mission

We've signed on with the good people at BackerKit so that we can continue accepting new orders even as we continue to produce the project! Please continue to spread the word about what we're doing; every new pledge is a step closer to another great prop or costume piece. (This also means that when we're ready to send out surveys to collect shipping and reward information from each of you, those will be coming from BackerKit, so look out for those emails in a few months!)

Boldly Stripped: Warp Speed Ahead!

WOW. Thank you all for making Boldly Stripped a reality!!! I've been blown away by the support you've shown for this project. In my wildest dreams I didn't think we'd raise as much as we did!

We can't wait to get the final product into your hands, but before we can beam it over, there's much to do! The duty rosters have got us in Arts & Crafts for the next few months before we kick off printing and shipping.

Here's a quick rundown:

• Kickstarter will take up to two weeks (barring any visits from the FCA!) to collect all of the pledges before sending the funds to us.
• Once the funds have been assimilated, we'll be able to add the biological and technological distinctiveness of a dozen more gorgeous aliens to our photostories! We'll send regular progress reports as we complete the shoots so you can follow along with us.
• Once we've completed the creation part of our project, we'll send out surveys to get all your shipping addresses and product preferences. The surveys will come through BackerKit - more on that soon.  
• For higher-tier pledges that include an event or photo shoot, Dangrrr will be following up with you in 3-4 weeks to begin coordinating those rewards!
• Book layout and printing is scheduled for October-December, with shipping to follow as soon as possible after that. Our goal is to have the books in your hands January 2022. If there are any schedule changes, we'll let you know!
• We're also planning a launch event in Las Vegas when the books arrive. We'll party like it's 2399 with Trekkie burlesque and booze! Details will be announced later, but hopefully we'll see some of you there!

We really cannot thank you enough for your support of our saucy nerd dreams. This couldn't have happened without all of you, and we are so very grateful. We can’t wait to send you your books!
